About

Christine finds inspiration from the landscape and nature’s ever changing seasons. Born in Massachusetts and having grownup on both the northeast and southeast coasts, she is equally drawn to the mountains and sea. Art, textiles, literature, music and fashion also influence her work.
Christine has always been interested in adornment as a form of self-expression. She started making jewelry in high school as a way to get around the school’s strict uniform dress code. Jewelry became a creative outlet that allowed her to express her independent spirit. Soon she began to exhibit her work and experiment with materials; wood, leather, ceramics, and found objects from vintage shops and flea markets. She studied painting, art history and English at Colgate University. After college, she continued her study of the arts in painting and metalsmithing.
In her jewelry studio, she forms and sculpts with wire, sheet and stone to capture the people and places around her. Each piece is an original or part of a limited edition series. She primarily uses recycled silver and 14k gold and she loves to work with natural hand cut stones for their organic shapes and colors. Sometimes a design starts with a sketch, but more often than not it starts with a color, texture or form she wants to explore. Once she begins working with the materials, they become her guide. “I find something primal and deeply satisfying about forging metal with fire and steel. Something sacred and beautiful about honoring these gifts from nature. They are my guide through an evocative world of memories and dreams. Familiar, yet unexpected and utterly unique.”
After 15 years of making jewelry and maintaining several studios and shops, Christine took a creative pause in 2020. A year later, she began to paint…again. Working mostly in watercolor and gouache on thick handmade French paper, painting has opened a new door to creativity. It allows Christine to have a simpler and more liberating relationship with color, line and form. And provides a healthy and sustainable balance between practices.
